Oak Project
Luxury Small Home Renovation – Budds Beach
The Oak Project is about more than renovation — it’s about redefining the way apartment living can feel. For the owners, this was more than an update; it was the opportunity to create a refined, light-filled home that reflected their lifestyle and love for timeless design. Set high above the coastline, the goal was to turn a dated space into a calm, cohesive retreat that embraced functionality and craftsmanship in every detail.
From the first conversation, the vision was clear: to modernise the apartment into a sophisticated, efficient space that balanced form and function. Every detail was carefully considered — from the reconfigured kitchen and custom joinery to the VJ feature walls, hybrid flooring, and hand-placed stone wall that ties the two levels together. Upgraded balcony sliders with thicker glass reduced heat gain from the western sun, while ducted air-conditioning and concealed storage brought comfort and flow to every area.
Throughout the build, collaboration and precision guided every decision. The owners were closely involved in shaping the design, ensuring the finished home reflected their aesthetic and priorities. The result is a refined, contemporary haven that blends texture, light, and thoughtful detailing — a home designed to feel effortless, grounded, and enduring.

Award Worthy Oak Project
The Oak Project is an award-worthy example of how thoughtful design can make small-scale living feel expansive and effortless. Working closely with the owners, the brief was to make every square metre work harder — enhancing functionality, maximising natural light, and creating spaces that could flex between family life, work, and quiet retreat. The transformation included a reimagined kitchen designed for efficiency, a built-in TV nook to define living zones, extensive custom cabinetry for concealed storage, and new ducted air-conditioning for year-round comfort. Every material was chosen for its balance of beauty and practicality, ensuring the home feels refined yet comfortable.
What made this project truly special was the partnership. Each decision — from rethinking spatial flow to refining the smallest interior details — was made collaboratively, ensuring the finished apartment reflects how the family actually lives day to day. The result is a calm, sophisticated home that feels spacious despite its footprint, balancing clean lines, natural textures, and clever functionality to create a timeless, highly liveable space perfectly suited to modern family life.

Before & After
Redefining Apartment Living
Before The Oak Project began, the apartment felt dated and divided, with limited natural light and little flow between spaces. The kitchen was closed off from the main living area, the balcony doors trapped heat in summer, and the finishes no longer reflected the owners’ style. The home lacked both the comfort and cohesion they desired, making it feel more like a stopgap than a sanctuary.
The transformation redefined every corner. The kitchen was opened and redesigned for efficiency, the balcony sliders replaced with thermally efficient glazing, and the new flooring and custom joinery brought a sense of warmth and unity throughout. A feature stone wall now anchors the floating stairs, visually connecting the two levels, while built-in storage and concealed detailing maintain the minimalist aesthetic. The result is a sophisticated, tranquil retreat — a space that feels expansive, intentional, and unmistakably home.
